EDUCATION PROGRAMMES

STREP was accredited as an education institution in accordance with the relevant Czech legislation. It means that STREP has been granted accreditation to carry out accredited education programmes.
Since 2000, STREP has been realising its own education programmes for workers of helping professions in the field of work with families endangered by social exclusion and in the field of work with children placed in institutional care.
The authors and lecturers of these programmes are the managing director, Vera Bechynova, and the deputy director, Marta Konvickova. In addition to these programmes, they both carry out lectors activities made to order of other education institutions operating in the field of social-legal protection of children, institutional care, custodial courts and social services.

Every year, STREP opens the aforementioned education programmes for workers of helping professions from the whole Czech Republic. STREP realizes the following activities:

  • Accredited education programmes.
  • Education programmes made to order.
  • Guidance of case seminars.
  • Guidance of case conferences.
  • Seminars and lectures made to order.

Vera Bechynova and Marta Konvickova are the authors of the book Sanace rodiny -"Approaches in Social Work Leading to the Improvement of the Family Life - Social Activation Services for Families with Children" published in the spring of 2008. The book describes a process of this type of social work and its specific features in various situations which families with children face. It does not resist pointing out to risks that might be connected to the provision of this type of social services or that might make their provision impossible. The theory is explained through case studies.
The book is intended for social workers, social pedagogues, students, workers of helping professions in the field of social work with endangered families.

STREP organizes case conferences. The case conference represents the main feature of the social services developed and provided by it. The case conference is a new approach in the Czech environment. The principle of the case conference is coordinated multidisciplinary cooperation of professionals intervening in situations of endangered children and their families. Parents and children can attend a conference. The outcome of the conference is an individual plan of work with the family on the gradual improvement of the family situation. The roles and responsibilities of each participant and family members are specified. Each plan shall include the following points: who, what, when and how. If the family is to fulfil the plan, it is necessary that the plan is comprehensible, making sense and realistic in time.

In December 2007, STREP started to issue a bulletin "BULLETIN of STREP – SPRING, SUMMER, AUTUM, WINTER" four times a year. The aim of this activity is to regularly inform its colleagues, friends, supporters, etc. of the news concerning the development and changes in the field of social work with socially endangered children and their families.
